Projects

Today's POV; creator

Today’s POV is a development project of C Shaffstall & Son, LLC. Today’s POV was initially developed as a path to learning more about X-Ray Magazine readers at a time when Shaffstall was the editor and publisher. As the project grew, it became clear that there was more to learn more about all sorts of people, even those outside the X-Ray Magazine subscriber and that with a little more effort, that information could be gained and shared in a social atmosphere. Today's POV is in beta while development is expanded.

ThePowerXChange, LLC; founder

Shaffstall founded The World-wide Power Company, in 1995. At this time, Shaffstall was authoring computer-software after-market manuals for Que publishers, was the co-owner of Type Characters, Inc., a service bureau in Denver, and providing corporate training and systems integration of QuarkXPress and XTensions. As an XChange US authorized reseller, the first and only company at the time entirely dedicated to the distribution of QuarkXPress XTensions, Shaffstall recognized the need for a more competitive landscape and a distribution outlet that could include new product lines — namely Adobe-software Plug-ins, Macromedia-software Xtras, and Strata Extensions.

In 1998, Shaffstall acquired the entire business of XChange US and renamed the entity XChange NA. In this acquisition, Shaffstall also acquired X-Ray Magazine, a print publication dedicated to content creators using QuarkXPress and XTensions. XChange NA was run in parallel for two years alongside The World-wide Power Company. In 2000, Shaffstall merged the two distribution companies and renamed the newly formed company ThePowerXChange, LLC.

After 13 years, Shaffstall has relinquished her position at the helm. On 31 March 2009, the intellectual property of ThePowerXChange was acquired by Distributor X. Shaffstall, however, continues to work tirelessly for the promotion of extensible technology as director of QuarkAlliance for Quark, Inc., and as a contributing author to X-Ray Magazine.

X-Ray Magazine; former publisher, editor, and contributing author

X-Ray Magazine was first published in 1995 by XChange US but was placed on hiatus after just two years in production. X-Ray Magazine’s original content covered only QuarkXPress XTensions, but today, as an entirely online publication, focuses on extensible technology used by content creators within the print and publishing industries. Though Shaffstall acquired X-Ray Magazine in her purchase of XChange US, due in part to exorbitant production costs, Shaffstall did not return the magazine to print until 2004 and relegated it to an online publication in the fall of 2007. The re-launch was dedicated to covering the release of QuarkXPress 7 and the XTensions that supported this version. In 2010, X-Ray Magazine's web site was acquired by Distributor X.

Sassy Strappings; founder and inventor

In 2006, Shaffstall invented a women’s accessory now known as StrappyArt and founded StrappyArt, LLC, for the purpose of distributing this patent-pending product.

StrappyArt is a decorative, malleable wire accessory that binds a woman’s tank or spaghetti straps to her bra strap to prevent slipping and disclosure of the bra strap. To date, there are more than 250 designs of StrappyArt and more than 1,000 designs of the StrappyArt dropcharms.

Shaffstall has competed in two QVC new-product events and one Oprah-sponsored event for inventors.
